on the one hand there are many aspects of academia that should be criticized but on the other hand i’m concerned about the rise of anti-intellectualism as a tool of fascism

Hey yo what the fuck does this say in English? Because if you can’t explain in layman’s terms you’re not doing a good job of getting your point across to everyone.

1. we are right to criticize the many problems in higher education

2. fascists manipulate people into hating anyone involved in higher education for supposedly looking down on them and being worthless to the “real world.” as a result, funding for education is cut, especially for the arts, no one listens to historians who point out that history is repeating itself or speak out against the regime, freedom of speech is lost in favor of the party line, and/or climate change kills us all since no one listens to scientists.

3. therefore, when we criticize higher education, we should be careful not to contribute to fascist tropes that claim that having knowledge is bad/smug/out of touch/useless to society.

😢 ❤️ 👏🏽

I love how he let him cry, told him, “We cry as men” and didn’t hit him with the whole, “Big boys don’t cry” mess. That was lovely.

Phenomenal. Allowed him to emote, then worked with him to understand the what and the why.

This gave me chills; this man is a true teacher. Children are definitely intelligent enough to understand the hard truths of life if you are intelligent and patient enough to know how to teach it to them. This is such an amazing example of respect to this kid’s emotions and maturation that you don’t always see adults extending to a young person.

Fucking finally.

It’s so good to see this. It’s so refreshing to see, especially black men, telling boys that it’s okay to cry, that it’s okay to feel and face his challenges with emotions. It’s a small step towards making a big change in a much larger issue.

I’m upset because I want to change the world but the world is too big and people are too mean

one of the millions of things i liked about spider-verse was that not only did all the female characters look different from each other, they gave mary jane her classic dimples and square chin, which might not seem like a big deal but you’d be surprised how much tiny details like those can make women in comic books look distinct

image

also seriously it feels like some animated films are pushing it to have two female characters who look even slightly different so i appreciate that spider-verse made sure every woman in it looked distinct from each other

Why is apple so obsessed with making very thin things at the expense of power and features

“Yeah my computer doesnt have an hdmi, but at least it’s so thin and fragile that typing too hard could split the computer in half”

The sooner you acknowledge that Apple is a fashion company and not a technology company, everything else makes sense
